Q. Am I required to take any tests during the course?
A. Yes. There will be several session tests as you maneuver through the course. After you have completed the course you will take your final exam. Once, you have passed the final exam you will receive a certificate issued by the National Safety Council showing you have completed their course.

Q. How many hours will the course take to complete?
A. Since the course is designed so that users may go at their own pace at their convenience, we are unable to tell you how long it will take you to complete the course. However, we can estimate that most people complete the course in four hours. You do not have to complete the course all at once. Once you have registered you are given three months to complete the course. You may also want to review the course to refresh your memory; you may do this any time within the three months after you have registered.

Q. Will I receive the same credit from taking this course as I would receive after completing the classroom course?
A. Upon successful completion of the course, a National Safety Council DDC-PC Certificate of Completion will be mailed to you, and in many states, may be used to lower automotive insurance rates. Check with your insurance carrier to see if you qualify.

Q. How will I benefit by taking this course online instead of in a classroom?
A.
- You do not have to dedicate a day to sitting in a classroom.
- You can review any part of your lesson at your own pace.
- You are not held up by the questions of other students in the class. You learn at your own pace.
- You take the course when it is convenient for you and no one else. If you wish to go online at 3AM the course is there for you.
- Usually taken in a more comfortable environment, your home or office for example.
- Concentration is usually better. There are no distracting students or other distractions, because you set the environment in which to study.

Q. Once I sit down to take the course will I have to finish it before I can sign off?
A. No. You can take the course over a 3-month period, even though completion of the course shouldn't take more than 4 hours in total. If you wish, you can take it in half hour increments.

Q. If I am not a computer expert, will I have trouble moving through the course?
A. The best way to find out if you can easily move through this course is to take the free demonstration lesson provided. (demo button)

Q. Can my family and I take the course together online for the same price?
A. No, the cost is per individual. Only one certificate is issued per user. You will need this certificate with your name and driver’s licenses number if you are planning on using your certificate for the purpose of insurance discounts.

Q. Does my computer need speakers in order for me to take the course?
A. Participants using computers without speakers can still complete the program because the content can be read from the screen. However, having the option of the narrator’s voice can make this course more interesting and helpful.

Q. Will my insurance company give me the same discount as if I received a classroom certificate?
A. If you intend to take this course for an insurance discount, you must verify with your agent or insurance company that they will accept the DDC-PC Certificate of Completion issued by the National Safety Council. Requirements for insurance discounts vary by state. This course is not intended for motor vehicle point reduction or ticket dismissal programs.

Q. Is this certificate accepted for traffic violation dismissal?
A. We are sorry to inform you that this course is not intended for traffic violation dismissal. However, you will be pleased to know that by taking this course you may reduce your chances of future violations. Also, in many states a discount on your auto insurance is available to you after completion of the course. Contact your insurance broker to find out if you are eligible for this discount.

Q. How long is this certificate valid for insurance purposes?
A. If you are using this certificate for insurance purposes, you must check with your insurance company or broker as to whether or not they accept our course and/or for how long. Each state holds defensive driving certificates valid for different periods of time.

Q. Will my insurance company accept your online course for an insurance discount?
A. Because our course is based on the National Safety Council’s 8-hour instructor led course, most Insurance Companies and Brokers will accept our National Safety Council defensive driving course online certificate. However, only your insurance company or broker can verify whether or not they will accept this course for insurance discounts. Please contact them before registering for this course, if this is your purpose.
